OneNote 2007 mobile cannot sync

Josh Bernard

Ive seen several others post about this but it does not seem to have ever
been answered.

I have OneNote2007 mobile installed on my WM5 phone and I sync with Vista
Ultimate using the new Mobile Center. The problem is that there is no OneNote
sync item available in the settings. I have tried to reinstall several times
and setting up a new partnership with my phone but the sync setting never
shows up in the list.

Does anyone know a workaround or hotfix for this particular issue?

Which version of WM is your phone running with, exactly?

It works pretty fine with my PDA under WM 5 and PC under Vista.

Im using a treo 700wx OS 5.1.195 With Vista Ultimate.

I have read somewhere that the install of mobile is "touchy" and sometimes
needs to reinstall. I have tried reinstalling it 6 times and have seen no
progress yet. If there is any manual way of setting this up in Sync Center I
will do that.

Is your phone an Orange phone? If so they do not support the Mobile2Market
certificate and therefore OneNote Mobile will not work. That is why you
might not be able to check the option in WMDC.

I have this same problem I think.

I installed ON Mobile on my Cingular 8525 running WM5. It can sync with
Vista in general just fine.

I can create notes on the PPC using OneNote mobile.

I do not see a mobile notebook when I open OneNote on the Vista machine
which otherwise works fine?

How are you supposed to see the OneNote Mobile notebook?

Is there anything to setup or open from ON on Vista?

If I look at ActiveSync option on the PPC I see OneNote in the setting but
it is grayed out and I cannot check the option.

Thanks,
Dave

I installed OneNote Mobile on my Cingular 8525 running WM5. It can sync with
Vista in general just fine and I can create notes on the PPC using OneNote
mobile just fine.

However, I do not see a mobile notebook when I open OneNote on the Vista
machine.

If I bring up Windows Mobile Device Center, then click on "Mobile Device
Settings", then "Change Content Sync Settings", I see the OneNote sync
settings choice but it is grayed out and I cannot check it.

If I look at the ActiveSync option on the PPC side I also see OneNote in the
ActiveSync settings but it is grayed out and I cannot check the option there
either.

Any suggestions? I already deleted and reinstalled OneNote mobile twice for
no help.

Thanks,
Dave

Well I got lucky after several hours messing with this.

I ran setup from the MSDN DVD and repair and change features worked fine
from there but there is some sort of bug why both failed from the control
panel "Program and Features" menu.

And after repairing rebooting, and removing Grove and rebooting, then
OneNote just started working and showed the PPC mobile filder just fine and
I can sync back and forth no problem and did NOTHING to either PC or PPC
OneNote. (Removing Groove hopefully had nothing to do with this, I just did
not want it on my system).

Why this didn't work right off and why repair worked only off the DVD I have
no idea but it was very very upsetting that I had to go thru all this
wondering what was trashed on my system I put so much time into building.

Hopefully someone at MSFT will look into this so no one else has to suffer
this. Have to say that even with all the nifty new features in Office,
Outlook and ActiveSync the old problems are largely still there - hangs,
crashes, worthless error msgs and you can call Mobile Device Center whatever
but it still acts like ActiveSync under the cover.

One of the reboots hung wildly reading/writing or who knows what to disk and
I waited a LONG time and finally unplugged my PPC and it finsihed shutting
down forthwith...nice!

Hope this helps someone else...

Thanks,
Dave
