onenote 2007 "not connected" error

I'm getting this error when i try to sync between my laptop and PC on an
Ethernet LAN. the computers ARE connected (transferring files, sharing
printers, etc.) but I now get the "not connected" error whenever I try
syncing. It was working fine until this week. restarting both computers
repeatedly and trying again is not working. anyone have a solution?

Click File -> Sync -> Notebook Sync Status and make note of the UNC path
that it is trying to reference. Then try to open that path in Explorer.
Maybe you'll get prompted for a password or the UNC share name changed?

Also, make sure you don't mark the folder containing .one files as
"available offline" in XP or Vista. I haven't tried this and I don't know if
it will even let .one files work offline, but if so, this wouldn't be good.
