I am using onenote 2007 and previously the tabs were organised
chronologically but now they seem to be organised alphabetically ie. When I
had a meeting I would insert a new section and when I opend up one note, I
could scroll along and know the last meeting I had was at the rhs..now I
have to search?? Any ideas as to how i can change it to chronological order?

If you moved from OneNote2003 then your existing sections would have
reopened
in alphabetical order (it was a limitation in our update). However you can
still re-order them any way you like by drag-and-dropping the section
tabs.
New sections should be created at the end of the existing ones.

This begs the question of why we can't have native automatic sorting of
section tabs.

Right click (on any section tab) > Sort by...Date, Alphabetically etc

I'd love to see this feature added but it doesn't seem to be high enough on
the OneNote team's list of things-to-do yet.

There is no sorting of pages in ON 2007.
As Irina already said what you see only happens when importing an old
notebook.

Although sorting pages might be useful as an *option*, IMO the way to
work with tabs in ON 2007 is really great. It offers the necessary
flexibility on the one side and allows for arranging the sequence as
needed individually OTH.
Espcially the grouping feature is really neat.

To organize your notes for meetings there would be several ways.
You may f.e. create a page "Team Meetings" and then place all of the
individual notes as subpages there.
If you use a certain code for the page titels - f.e. an akronym
followed by the date (f.e. TM 06-12-27)- you could manually arrange
the subpages by drag and drop and have needed chronological order.
Just done once you'd then be ready for the future - just adding a new
subpage for each meeting to follow.

You might also combine this with links to each subpage on the "main"
page which would the also be an interactive TOC for the group. In
addition it might be efficient to just add the Agendas for all the
meetings on the main page together with the links.
