onenote and office 2007 format

Do you have any knowledge if ON 2007 would adapt the office 2007 features
such as text edit options (including coloring and font type)
poping up when right clicked on the text?

That should be in ON I think.
Will it?

The Mini Toolbar is primarily for quick and easy direct formatting (not
using Styles) which is great for Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

But how would you use it in OneNote?

I rarely spend much time applying formatting in ON so I wonder if it would
be useful or get in the way of cutting and pasting etc.

You dont but I do....

I'm not arguing that you don't see a need for it.

I'm just wondering out loud if it would fit in with my OneNote workflow -
hence do I support the idea?

I think I might if it was customisable and the default formatting icons
could be replaced with others.

Sorry misinterpreted.

I think what would improve ON for the next version is the adaption of the
new layout of office
applications.

Word 2007 looks very neat and has a very easy acess.
ON can follow the same layout.

It will also result in a coherent office package with all office
applications
having the same layout.

Yes there has been much discussion about including the Ribbon in OneNote.

The difference is that ON is a v.1.0 product (barely 4 years old) with 100
or so commands.

Word and Excel are version 12 products (almost 20 years old) with 1,500
commands each. They desperately needed an alternative UI to toolbars and
dropdown menus just to find everything and make the commands more accessible
to the user.

How would the Ribbon for ON be configured without wasting screen space?

I completely agree with the need for more powerful tools and better support
for formatting, a la' Word 2007.

My small business is finding a Shared Notebook on a server to be a
phenomenal help as a "snippet" or "lookup" center for FAQs, stock responses,
etc. It's Find features make it very fast to find what we need, and the
ability to select an entire "chunk" all at once makes the copy VERY fast.

The lack of control to create consistent formatting when pasted into email
is driving us more than a little crazy, however. So yes, we need better
tools.

We love OneNote, and will value it even more when the formatting tools are
more smoothly implemented. And we're fine with the ribbon in Office 2007,
and adding it to OneNote. It's easy to hide when screen space is at a
premium.
