OneNote assigning keys

P

Word will let me assign a keystroke sequuence to insert a special character
which is necessary for my work, but OneNote will not. Why not, or, how can I
do this??

It's not quite a KB shortcut but it's the next best thing: you can use
AutoCorrect (under the Tools menu) to set a typed sequence which will be
replaced by the symbol you specify.

For example, many law students have an autocorrect setting which replaces
"ss" with the § symbol.

You can also use Character Map (Start Menu | All Programs | Acessories |
System Tools) to learn the Alt-4-digit code for the particular symbol you
want. For example, holding down Alt while I type 0167 on the numpad
produces the same § symbol. The Alt-nnnn code is listed in the bottom
right side of the Status Bar in CharMap. Those codes are universal and can
be applied in any application.
