OneNote Backups - Disaster Recovery Process

Hi,

Performing a notebook backup from within the Options of OneNote, does
OneNote lock those files after they have been backed up or can they be freely
copied (archieved) to another location for automatic backup to an external
drive or zipped for upload to an online backup location?

Assuming a DR occurred, what would be the appropriate way to recover the
lost notebook assuming a HD failure. I.e., copy the backups to the new HD
and then open the file from One Note or other?

Yes, they can be easily copied to another location.

Best way to recover in case of HD failure is just to do a restore from your
full backup which should restore the OneNote backup files and the active
OneNote data files as well.
