Onenote becomes unresponsive after installing Q895953 hotfix

Alan Fleming

I've installed this hotfix for the well-known memory leak in the ink
engine of Tablet PC edition twice now - once standalone, once as a
package of hotfixes from HP for my HP TC1100.

Each time I've installed it, OneNote has immediately become
unresponsive - taking seconds to perform actions such as switching tabs
or pages or trying to write, type or edit.

Removal of the hotfix via Control Panel | Add or Remove programs
immediately sorts the problem, so I think they are closely related.

Firstly, are other Tablet PC users finding a problem with this hotfix?
If so, are you a TC1100 user?

Secondly, not installing the hotfix leaves me with the memory leak
still. If this isn't a problem unique to me (I hope it isn't!) then is
there a known workaround or fix for the fix yet?

Thanks in advance,

Alan.

Alan:
Had exactly same prob! I'm running an Acer c310, so look for my post re: cpu
100% (posted back in august). I had installed SP2 and then it caused my
onenote to eat up to 380megs! I reinstalled everything and didn't upgrade to
SP2 and have no probs since!
Try doing a Help->detect and repair; If that doesn't work, reinstall from
origional cd and forgo the cool features. Maybe they will eventually fix it.
