Onenote Beta 2 is crashing

G

Gary Fugere

I am able to get into onenote without any problems, but after 3-4 minutes of
working I suddenly get a message that OneNote has encountered an error and
must close.

I clicked on report the problem to Microsoft and that does not complete it
gets about 50% of the task completed and then hangs up.

I have tried uninstalling onenote and reinstalling it, but I encounter the
same problem after the reinstall.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd submit a bug (using the link Daniel E. posted here earlier this
week).

On the bug submission page, there should be information about submitting
alternate log files. I'd also continue to try with the automated bug
data submission.

I also have a crashing issue on my Tablet PC with teh One Note beta. Whenever
I try to write with ink it will always crahs after about 5 seconds from the
time the stylus touches the screen. If I use the keyboard to enter data,
there is no problem, only with ink.

It's a Fujitsu 3010 with approx 750 Mb and uses the Wacom driver. I believe
I've gotten the memory leak fix, but I'll check. I've submitted feedback with
the Watson bucket number.

I'm beta testing Vista on the same machine on another partition, and am
running OneNote with it without too many issues. Ink works just fine even on
the Notebooks I converted over to the new format on the partition that's
running XP.

Okay, sounds pretty solid on the install then. You might want to update (if
you haven't already) the Wacom driver to the 4.96-6 version released April
19, 2006:
http://www.wacom.com/productsupport/drivers.cfm?os=XP&product=CTE4 Use the
XP driver which is 2.45 MB in size. And yes, the Graphire4 and Penabled
Wacom drivers are the same. Wacom just hasn't proliferated the file
over to the normal Tablet PC location yet.

Thanks for the pointer to the new Wacom Driver.

With that driver installed, OneNore still crashes, but this time when the
pen is first lifted from the surface -- before it was crashing when the pen
first touched the surface.

LOL! Hate to laugh, but I see that occasionally, too. Beta. Darn beta
software. Just curious, what orientation is the screen, and is it
failing like this in all orientations, just certain ones or . . . ?
Sometimes a video driver can contribute to this situation.
