OneNote cannot see files

I cannot open OneNote files (notebooks?) as OneNote cannot see anything in
the relevant directories.
However, if I click on the file using Explorer it opens correctly.
When I try to repair the cache I receive an error code: 0x4C8 which says
that OneNote is unable to access the notebook cache.
Suggestions appreciated.

If you have the data files, delete the cache and let OneNote rebuild it when
you open OneNote again.
