OneNote CD Key troubles

I bought a gateway laptop. Office 2003 came preinstalled and i also received
the office cds in case i ever needed to reinstall. OneNote setup will not
accept the cd key given to me on the installation cds. why is this? do i have
to pay the full retail price for OneNote, or is there another option? thanks

Unless OneNote was also included with the computer, you will have to
purchase it. OneNote is part of the Office family of products but is a
separate SKU and the normal Office Product ID will not allow you to use
OneNote.

Hi,

Was OneNote installed on the computer? If so you may find a separate
CD key for it somewhere in the documentation.

I don't have information specifically about how Gateway handles this
but OneNote will have a separate CD key almost certainly.

If you are adding OneNote then it's a separate product from Office
2003 although loosely a member of the Office 2003 "family". In that
circumstance you will need a separate product key.

I purchased a Toshiba A70, and OneNote was installed at the factory. It kept
asking me to enter the product key as well. I searched through the docs that
came with the laptop, and eventually found the reg key sticker on the back of
the recovery disk that came with the laptop.

Actually, I had a similar problem- I lost the cd key of a Windows
Professional XP license... when I called Microsoft, the guy told me that if
you *** really *** look closely at the hologram, there is a number imprinted
on the CD which you can call Microsoft, give them the number, and they will
give you the CD Key... for free.
