OneNote Crashes

I have ON Beta 2 and it crashes about every 3 minutes. I installed it in
June and it seemed to work fine until about a week ago. I did not make any
changes to my system - it just stopped working. I submit about 20 error
reports a day. When they successfully go through, I get a link to prevent
further occurences. I click on that and I get a message that this problem
has been recognized and in the next release will be fixed, but that does not
help me at all. I run the diagnostic in the help menu and it can't find any
errors. I tried deleting and reinstalling and I still get the error.

The next beta release hasn't been made available yet. Sit tight. No ETA
besides "soon".

It was the same on my side app. a week ago.
Did drive me nuts.
I assume a connection with indexing by the new WDS 3.0 beta 2.

I did not do the latter.
But at a time when the crashes did not follow each other immediately,
I closed the notebooks one by one.
Then I deleted all of what was in the cache files.

Then I opened the notebooks again one by one. Some notebooks had
yellow tags on them that pages could not be synchronized. Remove the
se pages after copying the content to new pages. After loading of each
notebook I did run "optimization" (in Tools | Options | Others ).

Hardly any crashes anymore thereafter.

I don't know if this proceeding really was of help (or just some
Voodoo) or if it was just indexing finished or whatever.

Windows Desktop Search:

Microsoft is developing the new version of its search technology and that
development/beta coincides with the forthcoming releases of Office 2007
and Vista.

Windows Desktop Search. You need this search engine to get instant
search capability in OneNote. Search is basically broken in B2, so hold
tight till B2TR.

I would ensure that all content is synchronized (if you have any
sections/notebooks stored on remote servers) and then close OneNote.

Then I would delete the ON cache file (found here by default: C:
\Documents and Settings\{yourname}\Local Settings\Application Data
\Microsoft\OneNote
\12.0\OneNoteOfflineCache.onecache) In the past, when B2 went
consistently flaky on me, deleting the cache file helped. ON will
automatcially recreate it the next time you start it, and as long as all
remote content has been synchronized and/or none of yor notebooks and
sections are not deleted, you should be fine.

And this should be improved *a lot* with the next beta release!

Windows Desktop Seach - the search engine used by OneNote and other
Office 2007 applications.
It's needed for indexing ON files/items.

Check the MS downlaod site .

Caveat:
At present there are compatibilty issues.

The same on my side (as explained in my previous posting).
Stress would be on "consistently".
ON will
automatcially recreate it the next time you start it, and as long as
all remote content has been synchronized and/or none of yor
notebooks
and sections are not deleted, you should be fine.

As explained above, some pages may appear with a yellow "warning"
icon.
But this is a problem which can be solved.

As to my experience this most radical method should be applied only in
cases where the system is really running Amock.
