OneNote - Default Opening Page

Lirianna

Hello, everyone. Sorry if this has already been asked and I wasn't able to
find it in the Search function.

I am trying to change the way that OneNote acts when I first open it. It
seems that somewhere OneNote is set to open minimized and start a new file in
the Side Notes section.

How do I set it to open maximized and in the Journal section?

I am running OneNote 2003 Trial SP2.

Thanks for any help/advice,
Liri

Aloha Lirianna,

Sounds like you're using the system tray icon to open it and have it defaulting
to open in a side note. Do you see the same behavior if you open it from
the Start Menu?

If you right-click the tray icon and choose Options (if I recall correctly)
do you see where you can set it to default to opening OneNote instead of
the SideNote?

Thank you for the response. : ) I actually open it from a OneNote shortcut
on my QuickLaunch bar (similar to a shortcut on the desktop). It's just
opening in the section titled "Side Notes", which is one of the pre-filled
sections in the trial version. I tried what you suggested and right-clicked
the icon in the taskbar and told it to Open OneNote. Did the same thing but
now it is maximized. Just don't want it opening in the Side Notes section...
any suggestions?

I figured this out so I thought I'd share for anyone who may need it. I had
apparently created my shortcut from the OneNoteM.exe file instead of the
OneNote.exe file. When I corrected the shortcut, I didn't have the problem
anymore.

Thank you for all your help. : )
