OneNote does not accept input

I downloaded the 60-day trial of OneNote, but it will not accept input.

The installation appeared to go smoothly.

Most of the menus are disabled. If I click on a page and type, nothing
appears.

Should I just nuke the install and try again?
Have I made a mistake installing it?

Thanks,
Hugh

I activated it as part of the installation. I'll try again with the help menu.

I tried Help/Activate, but OneNote still does not accept input

Any other ideas?

No, it hasn't.

It is the trial version that goes with Office 2007, and don't have any other
component of Office 2007 installed. I have Office 2003.

Could it be a compatibility issue?

Thanks,
Hugh

Office 2003/ON2007 are compatible.

Did you reboot after installing?
Can you try a repair of ON via Add/Remove Programs?
Are there any errors in your event log?

If you have a notebook created with OneNote 2003, those notebooks will
be read-only. If that is the case, there will be a bar at the top of the
page, prompting you to upgrade the section (note that upgraded sections
are not viewable in OneNote 2003). You can also try to create a new
notebook, which will be in OneNote 2007 format.
