I know MS is always looking for different ways that people use OneNote so I
will tell you mine. I was looking for a new car recently and narrowed it
down to 4 different ones (actual cars really don't matter). I was able to
go to each of the manufacturer's sites and build the car I wanted. From
there I captured a screen clipping (using SP1 Beta), and moved it into the
section I had defined for cars giving each car its own page. I also did
this for the Kelley Blue Book on my existing car (which turned out to be a
good thing since one dealer tried to say that car was worth a lot less.
Hard to argue when I can show him the web page with the exact date on it!).
After I got all the car information I created yet another page and just
created a simple chart of what features each car had. This helped a lot in
determining what car I really wanted.
I also created a secured section that had all the information I would need
to give to the financial people. Saved a lot of time. I also downloaded
a program that determines what payments would be so I had a pretty good idea
of what to expect.
Probably the real kicker was when I went to the different dealers and was
taking notes about the car on web page clippings I had. The look on most
dealer's faces was priceless! Then being able to show them the computations
I made to determine the price and payments was just icing on the cake!
All in all, I probably could have done this with a huge stack of papers but
it sure was nice having everything together in one place. Saved a lot of
time and I think it helped me get the best deal I could.
