If Word allows users to Change the spacing between default tab stops;
couldn't this feature be added to OneNote (and add insert tables too).

The tables suggestion is a popular one - I suspect that future versions
of OneNote will have improved support for tables.

First I've heard of the tab stop idea, but that seems like a good idea
too. OneNote isn't intended to create finished documents so to some
degree advanced formatting capabilities aren't really essential, but I
agree that some control over tab stops, since the tabs are frequently
used in outlines and OneNote does aspire to outlining capability seems
appropriate.

You cannot change the default spacing between tabs, but you can try this:

If you have created notes that have several collumns, you can right-click on
the 4-way arrow widget on the notes in any collumn and choose "Resize
previous column". Then use arrow keys or drag with the mouse to resize the
column.

Regarding this comment:
too. OneNote isn't intended to create finished documents so to some

IMO, the issue with tab stops (and line and paragraph spacing, and other
formatting changes) has nothing to do for a "finished document" and
everything to do with creating a readable analytical document.

As a software developer, I use OneNote as a means of capturing all of myriad
details of my professional life - system names, project plans, key code
snippets, etc.

The ability to format a document to be readable is critical. For example
paragraph adding 6 pts to the bottom of a paragraph allows you to more
quickly enter text, save space and be more readable.

Regards,

Dan.
