OneNote Mobile Functionality

Am I missing something about the Windows Mobile component to OneNote 2007?

I was all excited to have a scaled down version that would allow basic
functionality on my Windows Mobile device. After installing it, my
disappointment was extreme. Maybe I'm missing something but it appears that
outlines can't be multi-level. It's really not an outline, but a numbered
or bulleted list. You also can't easily move lines around like you'd expect
with simple outline capability. The mobile piece seems so basic that you
wonder if it's nothing more than a placeholder for an improved version in
OneNote 2011.

It's just intended to be a quick and dirty collector of information (for
later processing in the full version of ON after a sync) and a way to
take notes with you from your desktop. It was never intended to be an
equivalently-featured version of the desktop application.

Erik,

Thank you for the qualification.

I'm not so sure it's "quick" but I'd agree that it's "dirty".

They would have served the customer far better if they just added voice
notes and photo import to Pocket Word.

I wasn't looking for anything fancy, and certainly expect a "pocket" version
to be missing lots of stuff, but in my opinion the OneNote mobile went way
too far in being way too "basic".

Overall, I'd say I'm very much liking the desktop version. Seems like a
solid piece of work.

For me OneNote mobile would be quite usable if it would support Password
Protected pages. I would rather have some information encrypted instead of
system blocked (as in the device password option).

I'm sure that's being considered for a future version. I would agree
that would be useful for maybe storing passwords and PIN numbers...

I know what you're saying, but adding additional content types and input
methods into PW would still not solve the issue of getting that content
back and forth in ON.

I disagree with the assertion that ON Mobile is "a way to
take notes with you from your desktop". I can take with me only ONE specific
notebook. Am I supposed to keep ALL my notes unorganized in ONE huge notebook
just for the reason I want to keep them ALL with me?

On the other hand, ON Mobile has one nice feature missing in a "full" ON.
That's possibility to SORT notes in a notebook by Modification Date. I would
like to do this in ON with possibility to sort by several other attributes,
too.

Yes, it's a true drawback.
One has to get organized in a way to just have one "daily" notebook to
carry around and put the imprtant things in there.
I know, I know ... I'm sure that I will alway be missing what's just
not in there :-(

Yes, that's a valuable feature.
