OneNote needs to LINK to Outlook emails, or PASTE them in total

D

David Weiseth

The Powertoy is inadequate. We need a true and integrated link to emails in
Outlook 2003 and or the ability to paste the exact contents of an email and
attachments to OneNote 2003. This allows one to manage correspondence with
Notes on the topic. It would seem to be a very powerful feature to add.

Thanks,

David Weiseth

David, I already do something similar with newsgroup posts and certain
emails. I use Outlook Express to read newsgroups, and Outlook 2003 for
email. When something "special" is in either a post or email, I drag and
drop the item in a "save" folder I've created in either program. I write a
quick Ink note in OneNote with a few reminder points (if I don't copy/paste
the full message contents) and then right with that drag and drop the post
or email into OneNote. That creates a link to the saved file itself, and
when I want to do a bit of research for a specific item, I can Search my
notes for certain keywords, find the link and open the original message.
Perhaps this will help you.

You might actually find Outlook's Journal feature a better choice if you
need to maintain extensive lists of correspondance with notes.

Just drag and drop your e-mail message from the Inbox (or other folder) to
the Journal folder and it will create a new Journal entry (where you can
take copious notes) and a link back to the original e-mail item in its
entirety.
