OneNote should let me link notes from one page to another page

A cool feature would be to hyperlink a note on one page to another section,
page or subpage elsewhere in the notebook. Let's say that on today's TO DO
page checklist I have the name of someone I need to call. I also have a page
of info (phone number, previous notes, etc) for this person elswhere in my
notebook. I would click on the TO DO call note and it would open up their
info page.

That's a common request and I"m sure MS has heard it loudly and clearly.

A pseudo-workaround exists such that you can create a file:// link to
another *.ONE file in your "My Documents" folder. The only issue with this
is that you cannot specify the target page in this link. Whatever the last
page that was viewed in that section will be displayed again when you click

Thanks for the support. Clever workaround, however as we know, it'll only be
truly useful if the feature to link an object to a specific page is added.

I agree that this would be an extremely useful feature. I use it in my lab
to store procedures and also data. It would be good to be able to link from
the data of a performed experiment to the procedure page.

Hi. See this link for a response from the Program Manager for OneNote:

Essentially, they're very interested in the feature and are considering doing it.

Thanks,

No definite dates yet. Here's what Information Worker Product Management VP,
Chris Capossela, had to say about it:

"In terms of timing, we haven't announced any dates to the market for that
product, although Microsoft Office has a rich history of shipping a major new
release every two to three years, every 24 to 36 months, and we certainly
think Office 12 will continue with that tradition."
