OneNote should show the year in the datestamp at the top of each .

OneNote stamps the time, day and date at the top of each new note, recording
a meeting stamps the time, day and date when the recording start. But in my
notebook I see only the day and month - not the year. To see that a note is
from December 2003 and not 2004 I have to click the calendar as if I wanted
to change the date.

OneNote just uses the format you have set in your "Long Date" in Control
Panel/Regional Options. For the US the default long date includes the year,
like this:

Friday, March 25, 2005

hi Chris! on my both my Tablet and desktop PC I definitely have the year in
the Long Date format in control panel and I don't see the year in the title
area; I've tried it with the year as both yy and yyy (05 and 2005); I've
tried adding the year in and taking it out and then putting it back. OneNote
knows what year it is, because it's in the calendar if I go to change it -
any suggestions on forcing it to display? Now that I've got mutliple years of
notes, it would be nice to see the full date.

Does anyone else get the year not showing up?

The year definitely displays on mine.

I don't suppose it could be a regional issue? My date formats are UK rather
than US, but year should be the same for all regions...

I suppose it could be, yes. What if you change, just for testing
purposes, to US and see what happens?

My date is displayed as

Tue, 5 Apr 2005

The template in Control Panel for this Long Date is

ddd, d MMM yyyy

OK, after changing the settings and rebooting several times as I travelled in
and out of time zones I have more of a feel for this.

When I create a note, OneNote stamps it with the day/month/date/year combo
in your Long Date - and it always keeps that format even if you cahnge the
Long Date format. I

f you didn't care about years when you first got OneNote and 2 years later
you care a lot about whether a note was from November 2003 or November 2004
then there's nothing you can do to get the year onto those old notes even
though the full day/month/year date is obviously stored there because you get
the correct year if you go to change the date.

Could I request that OneNote displays the date on all existing and new notes
as per your *current* Long Date format? Or better yet that it lets you choose
between Long Date (which could be the default) and a OneNote specific date
format and that the change affects all notes? Is there a signifiant overhead
in exposing the information like this? Perhaps it could be propagated at the
same time as other background OneNote tasks (or you could get a warning
dialog 'This operation may take some time. Do you wish to reforamt dates
immediately or when the program is idle? Now Later').

thanks!
