Onenote symbol shortcuts

Is there a way to set shortcuts to symbols? As a law student, I frequently
need to insert the section symbol or the paragraph symbol. It's rather
cumbersome to push insert, symbol, find what I'm looking for and double
click it. Especially when the prof is yammering away.

You can enter these symbol replacements using autocorrect (Tools |
Autocorrect options) and have OneNote replace bogus text whenever you
type a specific string of letters. For example you might type SS and
have it replaced with §. You'll need to know the unicode value (see
below) for the symbols.

Or you can use the Windows shortcuts for directly entering symbols onto
the page: hold the Alt-key, and then type the four-digit code for the
symbol you want to insert. Release the Alt-key and the symbol will be
inserted at the insertion point.

You can find this code in the "character code" box when inserting a
symbol. You may have to pad it out to four digits by adding a zero at
the beginning.

A quick look at this dialog box yields:
Section: alt-0167
Paragraph (pilcrow sign) : alt-0182

That didn't work so hot. Holding alt and typing in the unicode value
wouldn't work. I had to type it in then hit alt + x. However, 00A7 + Alt +
X is more cumbersome than typing "sect." Furthermore, the autocorrect box
does not appear to accept unicode values.

Am I doing this wrong? Any other ideas?

Insert the symbols needed on a blank page (using Insert | Symbol) . Then
one at a time copy the symbols to the clipboard then go to Tools |
Autocorrect Options. Type the replacement text, then Paste (Ctrl-V) the
symbol you just copied. That should work to set up the autocorrect
options.

I just reembered that you can only do the alt+unicode thingie from the
number pad. You may have to press the FN key on your laptop to enable
the numpad as opposed to using the number buttons along the top row.

Rad. Worked great. Still couldn't get the numberpad command to work, but
it works fine with Alt-X. Thanks for the help.
