Hi everyone,
I am fairly new to OneNote and we are using 2007 in our office as a kind
of document management tool.
I have had several problems reported by users of the OneNote system
regarding speed and syncing issues.
There seems to be some serious LAG between changes made on one workstation
and the time taken for another workstation to see these changes.
Basically we are using a LAN with a central Windows File Share on a 2003
server as our document repository.
All clients (50-60 users) are all connected to various directories
(notebooks) under the main file share and are making changes and moving
documents from one folder to another as part of the daily workflow.
The problem seems to be that it can take anywhere from 5-10 MINUTES for a
change to be reflected at a workstation after another user moves a document.
I have searched a lot of discussion groups regarding OneNote speed issues
and sync-ing problems. I cannot see why there should be a delay of this
magnitude.
We are running all workstations connected to a 100Mb switched ethernet
network (1000Mb at some sites) and still the problem persists.
There is anywhere from 20-30 users connected to a single file repository at
any one time (most making changes, but only a few moving files from one
folder to another), but there are between 100-200 documents being generated
and moved across the span of a single work day.
I am due to go to site in the next couple of days to see for myself first
hand exactly WTF is going on, but in the mean time I though if anyone else
has had a similar experience you could point out what I am missing or what
you did to rectify the problem.
Any help or tips would be EXTREMELY appreciated.
Cheers.
