OneNote trial install problem

Mike

When I try to install the trial version of onenote, I get a "fatal error
during installation" message. I know that MS does not supprt trial versions,
but I WON'T consider buying the product if the install does not work. It
occurs after the CAB files are extracted from the downloaded file.

You might try redownloading a fresh copy.

I have tried multiple times to redownload and I continue to get the same
error. I have all programs down before running, I do have a registered copy
of Office 2003 Pro. It istill won't setup.

Have you cleared out your cache in IE? IE might be continuously pulling the
same "bad" copy from its cache.

I have the same problem when installing on Windows 2000 Server but it
installs okay on Windows XP Professional. I can't find a specific reference
as to whether OneNote is supported on Windows 2000 Server. (Changing my OS
is not an option at this point.) Has anyone had success installing on Win2K
Server?

I've never tried to install it on Win2K server, but it will install on
Win2K. Do you have SP4 installed on the machine?

Ben,

Thanks! Yes, I do have SP4 installed. I'm eager to hear what you find.

Ah, well I wasn't planning to try installing it on Win2K server, I was
simply supposing that it might work if you have SP4 or later installed on
that Win2K Server. :)
