OneNote with Excel

If I embed an Excel spreadsheet with a pivot table, will it work? I need to
share a spreadsheet with a remote colleague and wonder whether OneNote can
help me achieve this?

Yes and no. OneNote doesn't support OLE, which means you can't just copy
& paste the sheet from Excel into OneNote.
However, if you both use OneNote 2007, then you can embed an actual
Excel file into OneNote and it will be synced properly. However, if you
both make changes to the file at the same time, you are in trouble.
If it's just one file, why not use email?

I'm a solo physician and use a spreasheet to track my patient accounts, I
wish I knew enough about SQL databases to write a simple database I can host
on a secure site to track, I use a spreadsheet at the moment and cannot
access it from other than the office, hence my desire for a mechanism of
hosting the spreadsheet some place online, thought Onenote might be the
alternative, doesn't sound like

Sorry for those whomay find this a bit off topic, I'd ideally like to be able
to edit from more than one location, but happy to have READ-ONLY for everyone
else if that is not too complicated
Cheers

Aloha MSnoobie,

Well...there are a few ways to do it, none of them especially easy. SharePoint
might be the most elegant solution; especially if you use SharePoint 2007
with the Excel Services component.

Otherwise you might look at a web-based file sharing solution -- with Office
2003 I seem to recall that you get some storage space on MSN. Do a File
| Save As and chose My Network Places for the location. When that opens
see if you have a "My Web Sites on MSN" that you can navigate into.

Sounds like you're struggling to produce something already available on the
market, Doc. Take a look at the offerings from Tablet PC MVP Fritz Switzer
at www.abletfactory.com, including his SOAP Toolkit. It includes drag and
drop lists, ICD9 and drug codes, new patient and existing patient templates,
ROS capabilities, along with PH, PMH, SH and allergies. The SOAP Toolkit
also includes the OneNote EMR, eScript and Nurses toolkits. He's also got
some very fine medical dictionaries available.

Thanks Chris,

I even get confused about this sometimes, but:

OneNote EMR Toolkit
OneNote eScript Toolkit
OneNote Nurses Toolkit
OneNote SOAP Toolkit
OneNote EMR WorkBench = OneNote EMR Toolkit + OneNote eScript Toolkit

All products work in conjunction with our SuperMedical Special Interest
Dictionary (SPID) for enhancing handwriting and speech recognition.

Hope this helps,

Fritz
