Since installing Windows XP SP2 I have had repeated hangs when using online
shopping web sites (all reputable!) ranging from airlines (e.g.
www.flybmi.com) to cinema or theatre bookings. This seems to be independent
of particular machine (I've tried several) but all are running SP2 on either
Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.
In general the site works well until after pressing submit on the last
screen that takes one's credit card details. Even on the same site,
sometimes the transaction completes (as evidenced by an email received
later), sometimes it fails before completing and occasionally it works as
expected, sending a confirmation message to the Internet Explorer screen.
Since this applies to a range of sites it would appear to be a generic
problem or perhaps related to the same underlying payments engine.
Before installing XP2 all the sites worked fine.
