oops Where are these files (again)

I've set Word to auto-save, and it's showing files in a folder (hidden of
course), so I set folder options to view all files and folders.
I dig down through Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temporary
Internet Files\ <here's where it gets strange> there's a folder in the <open>
window named "OLK2S"... But I can't get there except with the "Save As"
option.

If I try to get to the folder, it just doesn't appear anywhere.

When I do "save as", I can see all these files (documents) previously worked
on and saved.

I'm of the opinion that I set auto save and backup copies, yet they can't be
found.
duh.
Any suggestions?

This would have to be a Corporate Officer. sigh

There is no "auto save" in Word; see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/AutomaticSave.htm. If you have enabled
"Always create backup copy," the "Backup of <filename>.wbk" file will be
saved in the same folder as the document. You will need to display All Files
to see it. If you have enabled "Save AutoRecover info," the "AutoRecovery
save of <filename>.asd" file will be in the folder specified on the File
Locations tab of Tools | Options. In order to see that, you'll probably have
to have Windows Explorer set to display hidden and system files and folders.

The .wbk file will always be created, but only the second time you save. The
..asd file will be saved at the interval you specify, but it is deleted when
you close the document or Word; it is retained only if Word hangs or the
system crashes, in which case it is automatically offered to you the next
time you start Word.

Also, if you are working in OLK... folders you are editing documents in
e-mail attachments or something similar and all the editing and saving you
are doing is in temporary space that will be cleared when you exit Outlook,
or shut down Windows or sometime soon. You should always save your documents
to a permanent location on your hard drive before editing them.
