Open a Project and display is blank

I have just installed Project 2003.

When I open an existing project the display grid is
blank. No rows or columns. I get the same display when I
try to enter a new project. In either case I can't click
on a view in the drop down window.

This has happened on 3 of my users. All are running XP.
We do not have Project server. They are all stand-alone
and sharing projects on the network.
