open access application for modification

a former worker created an access application which needs to be modified as
we're going to move the application to a different location

the application doesn't currently allow F11 to see the object window and the
top menu bar is customized for the application

I know there is a way to open the application which allows for development
functions - but I can't recall the key sequence that is pressed during
application initialization.

Push the shift key down and keep it down until the app is open all the way.
That bypasses the startup options.
