Open Dialog Find Files Containing...

Hi,

I can't get the macro recorder in Word or Excel to record
the action of using the Find... tool in the Open dialog.
Nor can I find anything in VBA Help on this. Does anyone
have experience getting this to work through either
recording your steps or writing code?

This is an attempt to find a workaround for the fact that
the find-files-containing-text feature of Windows
Explorer is broken in Windows XP -- it tells me there are
no files found meeting the criteria when in fact they do
exist. I'm in a corporate setting and can't patch my
Windows. I have Ultra-Edit but I find it hard to use.

All,

Based on code snippets in other posts I have written a
macro that usually works. It's pretty cool; it opens all
the files that meet the critria. But, occasionally, it
simply stops running even though there is a file that
fits the criteria. The file is on the network, but it is
perfectly accessible if I double-click it in Windows
Explorer. Any idea what the problem might be?
