Open dialogue box should let me easily search that folder

In the previous version of Word, I could easily and quickly search a folder
from the Open dialologue box. You would click on the Open file icon and
there was a place at the bottom where you could type in text or a partial
file name, hit enter, and it would search the folder you were opening. Now
you have to click on Tools, Search, and go through a bunch of steps to narrow
down the file that you want to search. It is a huge pain and I can't figure
out why you would take away this useful feature for quick searches!!

Hi Claire,

In Word 2003 and 2007 you'll need to use Wildcards in the Filename field to narrow down the search. For example to find documents
in the current folder with the Tuesday as part of the name
type
*Tuesday*
in the Filename box and hit enter.

I know how to use wildcards, the problem is I have to spend extra time
navigating to the folder that I want to search (which can really take time if
the folder is deeply buried) instead of my search automatically being limited
to the file that I'm opening. Having the search box right at the bottom of
the Open dialogue box was much quicker and easier.
