open excel file in word

Opened excel file in word. Could not find it in excel
after that and could not retrieve complete file in word.
How can I get it back into excel?

Did you perhaps save it as a Word document? If so, you may be unable to open
it in Excel.

If you did save the Excel file in Word you should have encountered a
message along the lines of "This document will be saved in Word
format. Do you wish to continue?".

There's a reason that message came up. If you answered "Yes" then you
now have a Word document with an *.xls file extension and it will not
open in Excel.

Now if you encountered an error while Word was attempting to convert
the Excel file and the Excel file is missing there may be a ray of
hope. Search for *.tmp files in the same folder as the Excel file
created around the time the error occurred and try opening it in
Excel.
