Open Excel File

When opening an excel file, being prompted "file should be opened as read-only unless you need to save changes to it. Open as read-only?" If answer no, it is a write file and changes can be done and saved in the same file. How can this be done?

File|SaveAs
Then in xl2002: Tools|General Options|check Read Only Recommended

Before xl2002:
I think it was: File|saveAs|Options (same check mark).
