Open File error - Word 2002 and office 2000 apps

Hi,

I operate Windows XP, Word 2002, and other office 2000
components, Power Point Excel. I have just updated it
all, using the update wizard in Microsoft web site.
Since this update, I can not open any file using the
above applications. In Word I get an error message, "The
file xxx.doc is not available.". In Power Point the
error is "The path or file name for xxx.ppt is invalid.
Please check that the path and file name are correct".
In Excel, I get "Unable to read file".
These error are the same whether I attempt to open the
file by double clicking from the explorer window or from
within the application. Also, this occurs to file I have
worked recently as well as for dummy file I have just now
created, saved and tried to open again.

Have had the same problem - updated Office twice - then
had to delete and just settle for the original version
from CD - MS doesn't seem to know any answers to this
issue - even after we spend thousands ...
