Open file from database using ODBC

It was my understanding I could create an ODBC connection and connect
directly from Pro to a Project Server database, in this case where we have
restored the production database to another database named prodBKUP. I could
swear I've done this before at other locations to get a file from backup to
then import into production.

When I go to File, Open in Pro and supply my credentials to SQL, I am
immediately sent to the Import Wizard, instead of a list of plans in the
database.

Am I doing something wrong or need a configuration change?

Greg,

I didn't understood exactly where you are missing the ODBC prompt. You
need to do the following:

1) Launch MS-Pro

2) File -> Open (To view the list of projects in the project server.
This list visible only if you launch proj pro by using project server
account)

3)Click on Open From File

4) Clik on ODBC (click on predefined system dsn pointing to backup db)

Thanks

Chak-
Yes, that is exactly what I am doing. After your Step 4 I am expecting to
see the list of plans in the database, but instead I am getting the first
screen of the Import Wizard.

Greg,

Have you created the machine data source pointing to backupDB?

I assume you did the above step. On the first screen of import wizard,
If you click NEXT, is it going to Step2 again?

Thanks

Yes, I've created the DSN and verify it works. The PROBLEM is I get the
Import Wizard, when what I need to see is the list of Project in the
database. If I'm trying to open a plan in the database, the import wizard is
useless.

Greg,

It seems to be while you creating the "Machine Data Source" you may be
using "User Data Source" instead of "System Data Source".

Just guessing...You may be doing right. But here I don't have a problem
in accessing the plans using ODBC.
