Open file with Tif extension

Robert

I scan a document with Microsoft Office Document Imaging. I place the
scanned document in My Documents folder, where it shows a .Tif file
extension. I send the scanned document as an e-mail attachment in Outlook
Express. When I try to open the attachment, I get a message that, “This file
does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.
Create an association in the Folder Options control pane.†When I go to
Folder Options and select the File Types tab, I do not find the Tif extension
listed under Registered File types. What can I do to open the attachment?
Thank you,

Save the attachment and on the desktop do right click, open with. Then find
a program to open it. In that File Types tab you can also click on the New
button and go from there. A number of programs can open .tif files. Mine
open in XP with either Microsoft Digital Image or Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer. Paint will even open them in a pinch. Microsoft Office Picture
Manager works, as does Windows Photo Gallery. In Windows 2000 there was a
program from Kodak, but I forget the name. You should also be able to drag
and drop the attachment to Word, for example, if you want to include it in
an Office document.
