Open files dialogue box is stalling. How do you correcT?

when I go to open a file and pull down on the "look in" box at top it stalls
for quite some time. Also, now takes forever to drive down into different
directories to find files.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, left-click on
Disconnect Network Drive, and disconnect any mapped drives that are not
currently available.

Hi,
Just a thought ...

If you are using Windows XP or later and Office XP or later then
Make sure you have at least 256mb Ram and a cpu more than 800 mhz
Also video ram of at least 8mb
You can run these products on lower scales but it is verrrry slow.
