open hyperlinks with browser

Hi,
if I click on a hyperlink in Word X it will try to load it. How do I
configure it to open links in my browser like Excel does?

Hi Tobias-

Not sure I'm clear on your question, but in general what happens when
you click a hyperlink depends on what the link points to. If your link
points to another Word doc it will open in Word, if your link points to
a valid URL (www.msn.com) your browser will launch when you click it.
This is pretty much the case regardeless of whether the link is in an
Excel file or aa Word file.

Hope this helps. If I'm missing your point, please supply more details.
Good Luck|:>)

That what I'd like, but currently http links are opened *in Word* with
its browser toolbar.

Hey Tobias-

That's a somewhat different situation I guess. I'm using Office 2004,
and when I click a URL it does in fact launch my browser. Office 2003
on the pc does the same thing.

I don't remember trying it in X 'cause I didn't use it that long due to
the "rapid fire" upgrades. I was under the impression it worked the
same way, though.

What do you have set as your default browser. I use Safari, but if you
have Internet Explorer set as your default, that may be the answer. If
that's the case & you want to leave it that way, there may be a
preference that can be changed. I don't know what it may be and I'm
away from my Mac right now so I can't check it out. (Nothing but PC's @
work.)

Will try to check it out when I can|:>)

Hi Tobias-

Sorry it didn't help, but that's how it works in 2004 on my Mac and
2003 on the PC here at work. I didn't use X too long due to "rapid
fire" upgrades, but I thought it would work the same way. Maybe X is
more like Office XP with that d* Web Toolbar.

Another thought- What do you have set as your default browser? If
you're using Internet Explorer that could be a factor. I use Safari.
I'll see if that makes a difference when I get home tonight.

I don't know if there is some preference that can be changed, but have
you checked there?

Will post back if I come up with anything.|:>)

Using Camino, IE not even installed.

Yes, in vain.

Is that "web toolbar" somehow famous?

Afraid I'm about out of ideas. The more I hear about X, the more it
sounds like XP. Perhaps this is one of those things they threw in and
met with a resounding thud!!! so they removed it from the next version.
Or changed back to what had met with approval in the past.

Sorry I couldn't do more|:>)
