In windows 9.x, we always placed links to shared directories and files in
Word and Excel default folders, and they worked in the Office open routine
to display the contents just as expected. When we try to do the same in
Win2K with Office 97 apps, the .Lnk files do not show unless 'show all
files' is selected, and then trying to access them only produces an error
box "cannot access read-only document 'linkname'". In Windows Explorer,
however, the links display and work just as expected.
Put me out of my misery; is this a known and insolvable issue, or is it
unusual behavior? If it is unusual, any idea how it can be fixed?
Thanks.
