Open linked file

Dave

I have a workbook (prop.xls) that has a link to a different workbook
(parts.xls). I would like to be able to open prop.xls and have it also open
parts.xls. When I do that now it asks me to "edit links" then "open source".
Any ideas?

Thanks

When you got the Edit|links dialog, it sounds like there's a link to workbook
that doesn't exist at its old location. (Excel is giving you a chance to find
that workbook to use as the "source" workbook.)

You may want to try Bill Manville's FindLink program to help find those pesky
links:

And after you've fixed all those broken links, couldn't you just open Parts.xls
first, then Prop.xls to save the "wanna update links?" prompt.

There are no broken links.
I want to be able to open 1 file and not have a number of mouse clicks
after.

I don't think I've seen the dialog to edit links appear except when there are
broken links.

I'd check once more using Bill's addin.
