open messages displayed twice in windows task manager but once in Outlook

Environment

Windows XP/SP2 Professional
Office 2003 SP2
Oracle Connector for Outlook (10.1.2.06)


Outlook reports not responding and does not recover....

Task manager - applications tab

Shows each open message and the inbox twice

The first time the item is listed with the Outlook 2003 icon
The second time the item is listed with unread mail icon

Under the processes tab

Outlook.exe is only running once
winword.exe is only running once.

Any Ideas
