open & minimized programs don't show in taskbar

Any open programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) do not show in the taskbar. When I
minimize them they seem to disappear but if I do ALT-Tab they resurface.
Help!

How frustrating is this!! Suddenly lost ability to view my open o
minimized applications in the taskbar!!

Can anyone please please please help!!! :confused
