Open office files from Internet Explorer

I have made an internal company website where I have put a lot of hyperlinks
to different files in Word and Excel. When I click to the link the file open
as a .doc or .xls file but they are viewed as an Internet file.
Is it possible to make the link so the files open in their original program ?
