Open Save hang

Every time I try to open a file in Excel or Word the app hangs for several minutes and gives a program not responding message. After several minutes it activates again but if I try to go to anothe directory it hangs again. Have completly uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail

Anybody have a suggestio
