On IIS (server extensions 2002), at an intranet, what are the disadvantages
of managing content directly through an NTFS file share versus accessing the
files via the IIS server (i.e. the http:// location)?
I have a sub web of company policies where the content is mostly word
documents. The FrontPage administrator has been managing content via
\\servername\subweb\ for years and it was recently discovered that old,
unlinked policy pages were still being accessed via the file share.
Directory browsing is disallowed in IIS. I'd like to delete the file share
but need to "sell" this to the FrontPage administrator. What are some other
advantages for him to change his ways?
