Open XML 1.0.3 installer is BROKEN!

M

MSS

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel

The autoupdater finds it and downloads it and then finds it again and downloads it and does this OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

I manually downloaded the release, but it seems to install (or fail to replace?!) v1.0.2. No sign of any v1.0.3 is found anywehre, as your autoupdater says, as it then downlooads, installs and says you need it again, over and over even after a manual install.

TIME TO FIRE YOUR RELEASE ENGINEER, AS HE OBVIOUSLY DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO PACKAGE AN INSTALLER!!!

I have tried to do the install a number of times and follows MS recommendations if having a problem. Guess what? No success. It must have a problem somewhere?

i've the exact same problem as described by MSS. i'm on MAC 10.5.7 intel, and use Microsoft Office 2008. The need to download Open XML is described as "CRITICAL" and yet we aren't able to get it to install. Only v 1.0.2 shows ~ even though i've restarted, powered down, gone through the install process numerous times. Does anyone have any suggestion or anything they've tried that worked? After downloading, the program goes through and "appears" to be installing, says it "successfully installed' - but only v 1.0.2 is on the HD / Apps folder... no where else: not even in the special downloads folder i have. It just creates the dmg on the desktop ~ and makes no updates whatsoever. Help please ~ thank you

After trying to ignore M$AU's intermittent annoyances (now it pops-up and says checking for updates and never stops until I force quit this useless POS), and since the M$ MBU must be on complete and total vacation, I went ahead and deleted any and all traces of the Open XML Converter and its AutoUpdate (why the heck can't it just use the one that came with Office 2004 - better yet, why not just let M$AU 2.x support the XML Converter, v2004 and v2008 instead of hiding the XML version in the Application Support folder and making us have two instances of this trash with which to contend?!?!).

After clearing out all traces of the v2.x M$AU *AND* the Open XML Converter (which reports as v1.0.2, even after M$AU v2 says it was updated to v1.0.3), I then grabbed and installed the v1.0.3 Open XML Converter .dmg from M$' website and installed. Now, the app in /Applications does indeed report itself as v1.0.3, but then its private copy of M$AU (/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MAU2.0/) runs ad inifinitum unless I force quit it. Good lord, does anyone at M$ have a clue or give a damn about the trash they release?
UPDATE: If I let it sit for AGES, then it eventually reports that there are no updates; however, I'd imagine that's a cop-out reply that it'll give when it TIMES OUT trying to reach any update server for a clue...and yes, my internet is fine.

What a joke.
Is anyone at M$' MBU going to address this, or do we have to wait for v2010 to get both a working updater and VBS back (thank goodness I kept v2004)?!?!

If my internet is out, it asks me to abort or retry the update check, just as an FYI.
