Opened documents are hidden behind toolbar

When I start a new document or open an older one, its top
is hidden behind the formatting toolbar. this started only
recently. Any ideas how to control the position on the
monitor where documents open so as to avoid this? Now I
hide the toolbar, reposition the document, then reexpose
the toolbar.

This often happens if you've changed resolutions on your monitor. You
can reset the windows faster if you use the Windows/Arrange All menu
command.

.Right you are, and thanks. It doesn't eliminate the
problem but it makes it much easier to make the entire
document visible again. Can't imagine why this suddenly
happened. I didn't change monitor resolution. I think
that once I resize or reposition a document and resave,
then when I repoen it, it appears where and how I want it
(ie, how I saved it). Must try that more systematically.
I wish I could get back to the way it used to be as a
default.

Hi Anthony,

I believe your toolbar has become "undocked". Try this:

Move your toolbar down a bit (an inch will do). Then very slowly move it
back. When it is almost "docked" into place, it becomes temporarily
"highlighted" with a darker border. Let go of the mouse button and
the toolbar will dock into place. At the same time, the Word document(s) on
the screen move out from under the menu bar.

Hi Anthony:

In case John doesn't come back with the rest of the answer, it's this:

(Having used the Windows>Arrange All so you can get hold of things...)

1) Drag both the Word toolbars down the screen a fair way.

2) Slowly drag the Standard toolbar up. Move very slowly: when you get
within five pixels of the correct position, it will "snap" into place.

3) Now do the same with the Formatting toolbar

4) Now save everything and quit Word.

When you open up again, it will be fixed and should stay that way. Let us
know if it doesn't.

John was assuming you knew how to re-dock your toolbars, he only told you
how to get hold of them so that you can :)

Cheers
