Dear Experts,
I created a powerpoint presention on one computer with PPT2000 SR-1 in
Windows 98 and cannot open the file on another computer with PPT2003 in XP
professional. I did pack and go with the viewer and could show it on my new
computer, but I cannot work with it to make changes. I have also made sure
the file extensions were correct. I wish to open the PPT from the old
computer to modify it into a new presentation.

Any suggestions?

Install service pack 2 on PPT 2003 and you will probably be able to open the
file.

If you haven't already, start PPT2003 , choose Help, Check for Updates and
apply any updates that are offered.

I'm a little unclear though where you're trying to open which file and what's
preventing you from doing it.

You want to open the original PPT on the original computer using PPT 2000, is
that correct? What happens when you try?

Steve, thanks for your respsonse. I created a PPT file with PPT2000 and
Windows 98 on an old computer and cannot open the file on my new computer
with PPT2003 and Windows XP Professional. I found 3 pages of updates for
PPT, but nothing of relevance. I wish to open the file in my new computer to
modify the presentation on write on a CD.

As others mentioned, you need to go to Help|Check for Updates and install
Service Pack 2 for Office 2003. Hopefully that will get you closer than 3
pages worth of updates. :)
