There is a set of Beta Translators on Mactopia site.
two major caveats.
1) you version of Office2004 can not be on a OSX.3.9 or lower version
Machine in fact the installer won't even grunt unless you have OSX.4.8
or above.
2), and actually an even worse Caveat than the above. IF you install the
Translators on a Machine that *also has* Office2008 it will screw up the
translator system on 2008 rendering Office 2008 useless.
The information about these caveats though not worded in my language
above amounts to the same thing is on the information about the
Translators on Mactopia.
And pray tell would you have Office 2004 and 2008 on the same Hard
drive partition? Because with the Lack of VBA normal features we have
grown to expect with Mac Office since the days of Word 6.0.1a (Knock off
for Word95 for PC), are dead in the water with no way to resurrect them.
So while Office 2008 has some great features its been set back 20 years
or more from Office2007 on PC.
IF you meet the above criteria OSX.4.8 and above and you do not have
Office 2008 on the same Hard drive; then you can install it.
Is there a plug in available for opening Word 2007 docx files (made on a PC) in Word 2004 on a mac? The finder can see the files easily but my Word 2004 cannot open the document. This is a simple word file but was made on a PC in Word 2007.
Any ideas please. Thanks!
