Opening a Form on a Date Control

I have created a form with a date control as the first
tab. The form opens in "add" mode only but the cursor
appears at the right side of the control which is an input
mask for the date. This causes end users some difficulty.

Is there any way to ensure that the cursor appears at the
left side of the input mask of 00/00/0000?
