opening a wp 6 doc

Learner

Hello,
I am trying to open a docunment in word perfect 6 and I don't know how.

I foud the following:
Converting from WordPerfect 6.x for Windows or DOS
You can use the WordPerfect 6.x converter to open WordPerfect 6.x documents
in Office Word 2003. You cannot save an Office Word 2003 document in
WordPerfect 6.x format.

But no where does it say how to really get to that converter. When I
installed office 2003 I did install All.

THank you for your help.

WordPerfect questions whould be asked in a WordPerfect newsgroup, not one

What happens if you choose File | Open and then change the "files of type"
to "all files"? Can you select and open the WP6 file then?

I receive the message "the file is not the right type. (WordPerfect 6x)"

And it does not open even with your suggestion to change the file type to
*.*

If you are only trying to open a .wpd (WordPerfect Document) in
Word2003, then it is converted for you. (It is for me, anyway)

To open a WordPerfect file, do the following:

1. On the File menu, click Open.

2. In the Files of type list, click either WordPerfect 5.x or
WordPerfect 6.x. (or All Files *.*)

3. In the File name box, enter the name of the file that you want, and
then click Open. (or browse to the file)

Exactly what happens when you try the above?

Maybe I misread your question? Are your trying to open a Word doc in WP or a
WP doc in Word?

Perhaps it is not really a WordPerfect document?
Have you someone with WP that can read it (and perhaps save it as a
Word document from within WP?)
