Opening Access 2002 query for Word 2002 mail merge fields

When setting up a mail merge in Word 2002 I want to insert merge fields from a password protected Access 2002 query with a parameter that asks for which month. Do I use the "Connect to new data source" option of file type "All Data Sources" or do I simply select the named database? I want the Word document to open, prompting for which month you want to select from the Access query, and then insert those fields. When I use the "connect to new data source" the "test connection" fails. The error says that the database is open exclusive, because of the password. Any suggestions?

Hi =?Utf-8?B?Q2hyaXN0aW5lIFdpbGtpbnNvbg==?=,
When setting up a mail merge in Word 2002 I want to insert merge fields
from a password protected Access 2002 query with a parameter that asks for
which month.As soon as you need user interaction with Access you're limited to a DDE
connection. By default, Word 2002 connects using OLE DB (new in Word 2002).

See the Word 2002 section of my website's mail merge FAQ for how you can
change the connection method.

Your website is very helpful, but I could not find your
specific reference to a DDE connection. If I choose the
database as a source, I do see the tables, but not the
queries. How do I see the queries?
Thanks.
